This collaboration brought together artists from around the region. The objective was to create adornment, and a self-portrait, that depicted the extra-ordinary lives of women via the visions of these artists.

Jewelry artist Mrs. Janet Asantewa Goode creates beautiful works of art using traditional beads as well as contemporary and natural objects. Her shoppe is located in LaPalm Hotel in Accra. We will feature her items until Christmas 2007. For more information contact sallotey1@msn.com

SANCTUARY CELEBRATES GRANDPARENTS RAISING THEIR OWN

We had a wonderful and sobering worship service at Sanctuary Christian Arts Center (SCAC) on June 24th, designated as the day for the annual African American Tea. The featured guests were members of the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF) of Washington, D.C. The worship service at Sanctuary was in collaboration between Mrs. Melva Williams, Program coordinator and Cyber-Church International Academy (CCIA) after giving an initial certificate of appreciation to Mrs. Carolyn Moore during Black History month, 2007.

The stories shared by the participants on Sunday demonstrated their tenacity and determination to support and guide their grandchildren instead of resorting to placing them into the foster care system. The challenges of raising grandchildren had far more positive experiences. However, there were moments that required prayer for strength, discernment, guidance, and patience.

Certificates were given to all participants by CCIA. Also, Sanctuary gave certificates and a love offering of encouragement. Refreshments were served and everyone enjoyed the exchange of ideas and testimonies of faith.

As always, the event was documented via video by SCAC. For additional information contact CCIA or Sanctuary Christian Arts Center.
